One of the most horrific moments in our lives was a near-fatal car accident that occurred on the Dubai to Abu Dhabi highway. The summer air-soil temperatures on the
blacktop can reach 100 degrees centigrade. The rear tire on the Nissan Patrol 4-wheel drive vehicle exploded in the heat and the car flipped over, spinning and sliding on the roof.Remarkably,
Caroline was unhurt, but the police took over 1 1/2 hours to reach the accident scene and laws are such in Abu Dhabi that discourage people providing roadside assistance. This event, in
conjuction with others signified that we should consider leaving the Gulf. |
